Cookie policy
This website does not use cookies. It does store a small amount of information in your browser while you fill in the online check, and this page explains what and why.
Checked
The short version
- We do not use cookies. No advertising cookies, no tracking cookies, and no cookies for our visit statistics.
- The online check saves your answers in your browser as you go, so you do not lose them. They are removed once you send them.
- That is why there is no cookie banner on this site: there is nothing to ask your permission for.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website saves on your device. Similar technologies, such as your browser’s “local storage”, do much the same job. UK law treats them the same way: a website needs your consent to use them, unless they are strictly necessary for a service you have asked for.
What this website stores
| What | Where | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your answers to the online check | Your browser’s local storage | So you do not lose your answers if you leave the page or your connection drops | Until you send them, start again, or clear your browser’s data |
| A reference for your visit to the online check | Your browser’s session storage | So your answers are recognised as one enquiry, and not sent twice | Until you close the browser tab |
Both are strictly necessary for the online check you have chosen to use, so they do not need your consent. They stay on your device and are not used to track you.
If you use a shared or public computer, we suggest you finish or clear the online check before you leave. The “Start again” button removes your saved answers.
Visit statistics
We use Ahrefs Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It does not use cookies, does not collect personal information, and does not follow you to other websites.
Other websites
If you follow a link to another website, such as GOV.UK or the Insolvency Service, that website may use its own cookies. Check its own cookie policy.
Clearing what is stored
You can clear anything stored by this website through your browser’s settings, usually under “Privacy” or “Clear browsing data”. This removes any unsent answers to the online check.
Changes
If we ever start using cookies, we will update this page first, and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
